Under invitation from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the Baobab Institute participated in this year’s Annual Meeting of the Grand Challenges described on their website as “a family of initiatives fostering innovation to solve key global health and development problems”. We were asked to participate in the track “implementation of innovations for women and girl’s nutrition” and present on the 2NIBA initiative a new innovative financing mechanism being developed to support scaling up of the “INSPIRE” approach. In the INSPIRE model , post partum family planning (PPFP);maternal , newborn, and child health (MNCH); and nutrition services are provided as integral parts of the service package . Other panelists included IntraHealth’s Dr. Marguerite Ndour INSPIRE project Director and Dr. Yves Mongbo from WAHO, the West African Health Organization .
