Dr. Elhadji Babacar Gueye is an outstanding physician and public health professional with over twenty years of experience in MNCH, FP, RH, malaria, program management, and quality assurance.

Dr. Elhadji Babacar Gueye is an outstanding physician and public health professional with over twenty years of experience in MNCH, FP, RH, malaria, program management, and quality assurance. He has honed excellent leadership and managerial skills throughout his career, spanning project start up and rollout processes, championing quality and excellence in project implementation, and monitoring for high impact results. He has a deep and thorough understanding of Senegal’s health system, having served as a government official, UNICEF project administrator, technical director, deputy director, and COP for IntraHealth in Senegal.
In his current role as COP, Dr. Gueye is responsible for providing strategic leadership, guidance, quality assurance, and overall management of program deliverables, ensuring compliance policies and procedures and USAID rules and regulations. In addition to leading the technical team in introducing and/or scaling up high-impact interventions such as long-acting FP methods and treatment for malaria using ACT, Dr. Gueye also assists government counterparts with the development of national strategic plans for RH, malaria, and child survival, and oversees financial and sub grant management. Dr. Gueye has exemplary communication skills, as well as excellent relationships with Senegalese strategic partners, health authorities and health champions, He collaborates closely with local and international stakeholders, key government departments, and local communities and recognizes that partnership and capacity building are primary strategies for supporting sustainable health care.
He has a medical degree from the University of Dakar and certificates in both public health and epidemiology, and is fluent in English, French and, Wolof.
